Senior Consultant in Anesthesiology & Intensive Care Medicine
IFM Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner
I believe good medicine begins when people truly understand their health. My work combines the precision of anesthesiology and intensive care medicine with a personalized, evidence-based approach. My goal is to help people understand their health, make sense of complex medical information, and make informed decisions that support long-term health, resilience, and longevity.
Professional Background
After earning her medical degree, Dr. Edita Lukić earned a PhD in Medicine at the University of Zagreb. Her doctoral research focused on insulin resistance and metabolic changes during critical illness - an area that continues to shape her medical thinking today.
She completed her residency training in Croatia and Austria, gaining experience across different healthcare systems and medical environments.
Dr. Lukić later joined the Department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine at the Medical University of Graz, where she cared for patients undergoing complex cardiac surgery while managing perioperative anesthesia and intensive care.
Working in an environment where precision, complex pathophysiology, and rapid decision-making were part of daily clinical practice profoundly shaped her approach to medicine. It reinforced the importance of understanding the human body as an interconnected system rather than a collection of isolated findings.
Over time, one question became increasingly important:
What factors contributed to this particular person developing disease?
The search for scientifically grounded answers to that question led her to pursue advanced training and certification through The Institute for Functional Medicine (IFM), followed by an observership at the Cleveland Clinic Center for Functional Medicine in the United States.
Today, Dr. Lukić continues her work as a Senior Consultant in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at Hansa Private Hospital in Graz, Austria, while dedicating an increasing part of her work to personalized medicine with a growing focus on prevention, Functional Medicine, and longevity Medicine.
